Chickens are a ground bird often domesticated and raised for their meat and eggs. They have plump bodies covered in feathers that vary greatly in color and pattern. Chickens are social animals, and although they have functional wings, they rarely fly. They eat seeds, insects, and other food which they scratch from the ground.
