Battle of Forlì (DLC)
Battle of Forlì is one of two downloadable content extensions for Assassin's Creed II. It comprises the first of the two "corrupted memories" of the Animus (DNA sequence 12), and was released 28 January 2010, which retailed for 320MS points on Xbox Live and $3.99/€3.99/£2.47 on the Playstation Network. It involved Niccolò Machiavelli and Caterina Sforza fighting alongside Ezio to protect a Piece of Eden from the Orsi brothers and the Templars. It contains six new missions, of which Ezio used the Flying Machine once more and, as the title suggests, took place in the poorly exploited (in the main game) Forlì.
Battle of Forlì in history
The only battle that has occurred in Forlì was during May 15, 1282 when there was a battle against a powerful French contingent sent by Pope Martin IV. The battle was cited by Dante Alighieri (who was hosted in the city in 1303 by Scarpetta Ordelaffi III).
Several battles occurred within the early and late 1490s, where Caterina Sforza held the title "Countess of Forli". The Italian Wars was in its early stages, and Forli stands strategically between the two cities, Florence and Venice, though Forli is an ally of the latter. Forli fell to the combined might of French armies (as support given by King Louis XII), papal armies and Italian mercenaries, led by Cesare Borgia around the early 1500s.
Trivia
- At this stage in history, Caterina Sforza is only 25.
