Its the location because that is the location of the First Civilisation's temple. For them it was an arbitrary location. But for Ubisoft, it was a chance to Americanise slightly (too much will ruin it, I agree) but also a chance to change the character. A French Rev character would just be Ezio with a French accent. The Native American route gives a chance of some original writing.
