I'm pretty sure that most of the weapons shown in the article are weapons which are also used by guards. The dagger is for the Agiles, the mace for the Brutes, the crossbow for the Crossbowmen, the rifle for the Arquebusiers and the sword for either the common guards or the Janissaries. Obviously (apart from the rifle), Ezio will use them too.
