I do not agree with removing the modern day parts altogether, but I do agree that they need to be a lot more immersive and a must have much better execution. Plus, abruptly removing the modern day parts and the Animus (around which everything of the HUD is based) would be even worse, I'd say, as that would be totally inconsistent with how the series has been thus far. Better execution is the way to go in my opinion.

I understand that people may not like the First Civilization plot all too much - personally I have grown to appreciate it - but removing them completely would mean removing the Pieces of Eden as well, and they are one of the things that make Assassin's Creed intriguing.
