First of all , Congrats. You made a really great analysis which covered all important aspects.

I personally believe that they really really messed up the modern day sequences.Instead of an awesome plot which advances gradually, it interrupted the sorytelling. It progressed slowly depending too much on the Animus.

However you have said that only the tales of Ezio,Altair , Connor i.e. the descandants should be told.I disagree.Remember if you notice all the stories, they all have an underlying secret which somehow connects into the present .I mean , envision Assassin's Creed 1 with just Altair. It would have been an ending which would be interesting but not so much as one would find it to be with Desmond's plot .It kind of doubled the interest. With Ezio , he 'is but a conduit for a message that eludes his understanding'.Now imagine if they suddenly introduce Desmond at the end of ACR or ACB or ACIII .It doesn't fit. Although I agree they totally messed up the ending of AC3 , but imagine if Desmond had a lot of interesting sequences in AC3 , how aewsome it would feel.

However the ending is as it is , and we can't do anything about it.But having the modern day aspects makes a much bigger pathway for sequels with an awesome overall plot. So I believe we should have the Animus , but the modern day aspects NEED TO IMPROVE.
