Have you seen the trailers and demo? The environment is lush and beautiful, even for a desert, there's so much life. There's certainly areas of nothing but sand dunes, but then there are fertile oases and the areas around rivers are thick with foliage. Ancient Egypt was not barren contrary to popular misconception. As for cities, there will be at least two cities featured: Memphis and Alexandria, so you won't have to worry about having an urban environment as well.
