The only way they can incorporate this is if you could "create" your own modern day protagonist, which sounds a bit tacky.

However, it would be a bit of a let down from AC4 to have "you" as the protagonist, and then have you follow some new guy around.

It wouldn't faze me for modern day story stuff, but having to create a virtual clone of myself to follow would be peculiar, but it wouldn't be as bad as first person missions, since they'd have to be really limited in scope.
