He lost his mother with FIVE.

Had his village burned down and perhaps may have felt guilt for not stopping the ones who did it and ( just like most people thought in the FIRST time they played/watch the scene ) assumed the Templars were responsible.

He HAD to leave his village and train to kill in a decaying homestead with a pessimist oldman.

Was deceived by stupid politics and commanders to help them win a war.

Had to kill his friend and father and also lost his mentor.

Discovered that he wasted all those years in a completely failed quest( a least for him but not Desmond ).

Realised that he destroyed his life by his own mistakes.

Dont we love happy endings?
