modern day New York wouldn't really work at all.it's in the present time,so the animus would be useless.so many scyscrapers parkour would be rather difficult.men with accurate guns that aren't one shots would make combat impossible,not everyone's gonna have a baton.and the civil war might be a bit too close to the revolution,so i doubt it.plus guns are much more accurate and deadly at this time.if anything i think Ubisoft would go backwards.how far and were,we'll have to wait and see
