"it's nice to see a Lord of the Rings game that isn't real-time strategy."
The thing I'm curious about regarding Shadow of Mordor is that MP seems to have grabbed a handful of terms and ideas within Tolkien's writings... but not their context. What I've seen in that (granted, just one) in-game and in the Game Informer videos... They could've just as well called the game Shadow of Murtaugh or whatever. There seems to be preciously little tying SoM to Tolkien's writings, atm. Or even to Jackson's movies.
Sure, maybe they'll toss in details and easter eggs and stuff... But if you have to hunt for those things in order to think/feel "This is Middle-earth"... you're doing it wrong.
I hope like hell that the first impression's faulty, though, and this'll turn out to be something to positively refer to when discussing Middle-earth.
"the MMORPG that hasn't survived the giant World of Warcraft executioner's axe"
I'm afraid I don't get what you mean with this: it's about LotRO, certainly, but...?
