Bark of Ra

The Bark of Ra was a legendary spear inspired by the Egyptian god Ra, the personification of the sun in Egyptian mythology.
Through an Animus modification made by Layla Hassan, the spear was made available to the Medjay Bayek of Siwa during the mid-1st century BCE.

Behind the scenes
A bark, more often barque, is a type of ship. In a Western context, it first was used as a catch all term for small sailing vessels that didn’t neatly fall into other ship categories; later it was used to refer to ships with a specific sail configuration. In the Egyptology sense, barques were the funerary barges, built to transport the souls into the afterlife and were also believed to be how the gods, such as Ra, traveled the heavens as the ancient Egyptians likened the Milky Way to the waters of the Nile.
