Only the Papal Guards and Janissaries had Defense Break, the rest of the guards didn't. As for medicine, I used it consistently even if I lost one health square because I'm a perfectionist and don't want to run around with little health squares... it begins to bother me A LOT. I sometimes die in combat but not as OFTEN as I used to when I was just a Novice. I have a feeling I'll die in Assassin's Creed 3 as well, perhaps a few times by the time I get used to the new combat system but that's NATURAL to GROWTH. It is NORMAL to get HURT in BATTLE guys. So don't feel bad if you think you suck just because you didn't get a perfect killing streak. I can get them, but they are definately not easy to perform because of the attention you have to be keeping on ALL guards.
