It would be stupid to have two Miles in a franchise playing a major role and they not being related.

Also, in AC1 Desmond states that he escaped the farm and never saw his parents again, so his father might very well be alive and still in the order.

Also, I get a sort of connection between farm and garden/eden, but that's most likely echoed.
