Firstly, it has been confirmed by Ubisoft that Ezio and Altair are not related and the cross that minerva mentions is in fact the templars' symbol. About your theory; it is part right. Daniel Cross will be sent after William, but that becomes known when you reach a certain level in ACR multiplayer and you are shown a video of how a highly ranked Templar agent, alongside Warren Vidic sent a team with a newly recruited master templar to kill Desmond's father (because he is the new Mentor of the assassin's and that is known by the Templars). You said that the "cross" Minerva mentions means Daniel, which is wrong. Oh, and Abstergo wouldn't kill Desmond, he is too valueable.
