A new user is trying to make a contribution, you can't expect him to know his way around from the get-go, what can be done and what can't. And to have your contribution, no matter how small, undone, without any explanation, can be very frustrating. I stand by my point that Alientraveler should've just told him that from the get-go. How would any user not originally involved with the vote even know that?
