Actually Washington wouldn't be the first templar undercover... the same happened with Al Mualim, Prince Ahmed, Daniel Cross, and even with Lucy, so it could happen...

Well you must remember that both Assassins and Templars have the same goals, but whole different methods, even tough that about liberty is totally not part of templar methods so you might be right...
