No, he's not bribing the guard, because the guard is giving him something, not the other way around. It's just a theory but I still suspect him of betraying Ezio at some point in Brotherhood. Betrayal's always been a strong note in the AC games, we saw it with Al Mualim in the first game, and we saw it at the Auditore Execution that made the whole ACII story even possible (think about it, if they weren't executed through Umberto's betrayal, ACII would have likely been a very different story). I dunno it just seems very likely to me.
