It sure is Kal, but Ubi has been taking brave moves since ever... I mean.. in AC1 they told Jesus' miracles were made by the Apple of Eden (Altair and Al Mualim's final dialogue), in AC2 we infiltrated the Vatican and assassinated the POPE!! In ACB they showed us all the corruption of the Catholic Church by that time. Without counting the theory about the origin of the human race that mix the Bible with Evolutionism and Ancient Aliens... I think telling us that the Founding Fathers were templars would be nothing compared to this... but however as you said, I think the problem with that would rather come from the insides of Ubisoft marketing team than from the public..
