Daniel Cross versus Desmond might be interesting to see... though Desmond would be outmatched in my opinion.

My guess for reliving as Connor is either, he has seen how to enter/activate the temple or a boring but more likely explanation is to acquire the skills of an Assassin who fought through entire armies and some of the most brutul combat (it's a bonus that Connor would have homefield advantage). But we won't know much until it's released.
