The ending won't be a huge surprise but sometimes they do these prequel endings where they lead off into the first game and that kind of brings a "Oh, thats cool." thing to it. It's not super exciting but eh, ya know.

I don't think they're going to end it any time soon. But some companies who have been lucky with their success will ride the train until it crashes.
