When THQ Montreal was sold to Ubisoft, it included IP. Now I know what I'm about to say isn't official, but it would appear that Ubisoft told Patrice they didn't want to fund "1666". Patrice probably blew a fuse (who wouldn't), Ubisoft fired him for his reaction along with his supporters (JF Boivin) and scrapped the IP (because it legally belongs to them). So yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what this whole thing is about. But none of this is official because it hasn't come out in the courts yet.
