I believe you meant ACIV for that first part. Anyway, i dont really think the french revolution would be that great a setting. In my head its just a horribly bloody cycle of government changes that exchanged one absolute power for another. The Napoleonic wars would be much better (especially with the whole "napoleon was the first anti-christ" thing). They could play a little bit into the end of the revolution setting up napoleon, but i think the revolution itself would be a hard thing to set up as Assassins and Templars conflict.
