Adéwalé realised how never-ending the war between Assassins and Templar was. He grew old fighting a fight of ideals, and decided to fight for a more pratical end, the Independence of the the Maroons, because he could put that goal and the assassin's creed goals in the same category. Basically i think he started outsourcing his knowledge for objectives he could identify with.
