They call me many things: Murderer. Cutthroat. Thief. But you may call me Axehead.

This article is about a subject that lacks an official name and is known only by its nickname, title, or alias.

Axhead (died 870s) was a 9th century Norse Viking from Grantebridgescire, England.

In the 870s, Axhead fought an opponent and bested him, but not before his rival's battleaxe embedded in the side of his skull. Inexplicably, he survived what should have been a fatal wound. Due to the axe blade in his brain, his memory was impaired and he remained unaware of the weapon's presence or the additional weight in his head, even as the blade occasionally caused him slight headaches and his arms to tingle.[1]

While sitting on a log one day, he met Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan who was travelling through the region. She noticed the strangeness of his injury and during their conversation decided on whether to tell the Viking the truth. When Axhead asked if Eivor would remove the source of his headaches, she pulled out the ax, ultimately killing Axhead and sending him to Valhalla.[1]
