My name is Gavriil and I'm from Russia.
I'm a big fan of the AC series, and I played all parts. This story is forever in my heart.
Honestly, I always wanted to see the AC in Russia, even after the adventures of Altair. And more recently I learned that there are comics about the assassins operating on the territory of my homeland. It will be hard for me to describe my happiness with words. But when I saw what was happening in these comics, my once-main dream became the worst nightmare. Let me explain.
In the comic book series, the assassins help the 1917 revolution come true. And I understand that if you do not go down in history, everything looks logical. But for us, at least many of us, the revolution of 1917 is one of the most terrible events in the history of the country. Even if we forget that this civil war took more than twelve million lives, then what began after is not better. The Red Army soldiers destroyed all those who belonged to the aristocracy, they broke into houses, killed women, children. Even when Nicholas II abdicated, he was shot with his family, although this was not part of the agreement. At the same time, the revolutionaries covered themselves with the good goal of "liberating the people from the yoke of the bourgeoisie." As a result, it turned out that all this was in vain, because instead of some monarchs, others became at the wheel, much more cruel, just calling themselves became different. Why is it so important for me to write this? Of course I do not know, maybe the Italians are good to Borgia or Caesar, and the egyptians love Cleopatra. But we, for example, are told about Caesar as a usurper of power. Therefore, when I play Origins, I do not notice inconsistencies. However, if the assassins support the revolution and the Red Army in the Russian Empire of 1917-1918, I can not consider them real assassins. At least, because the credo says: do not let the blade hit the innocent. And in this war so much blood was shed by innocent people. Remember even the execution of noblemen in Kiev, when the bodies were buried in parks and the earth was red. The Communist government did not bring anything good for my country, except, apart from the industrial boom, which one way or another would have happened. However, they destroyed all or somehow wise and educated people, or they immigrated to France, England and other European countries. And if i have make this stupid comparison: Hitler in Germany, being an absolutely terrible man, wanted good for his people, Stalin and Lenin destroyed their own people: the Holodomor in the Ukrainian SSR, shootings because of denunciations, border detachments.
I know that comics are recognized as canonical, and my word against the already chosen course of the company is worthless. But as they say, "an attempt is not torture." Perhaps, if you ever want to create AC in Russia, you will remember my letter and make another choice. For example, this part will be something similar to Rogue, because, in my opinion, it is better to play for smart Templars than for stupid assassins who betrayed the foundations of brotherhood. Or you completely revise the whole concept.
