I just researched, you're right Machiavelli is younger than Ezio, my apologies I didn't know his age and by the way he looks when ezio meets him its really hard to believe he is 19 there...

And don't misunderstand me I would have loved to see Malik in Altair's story and other characters like Da Vinci or La Volpe such as Machiavelli in Ezio's part but it would be meaningless to make them appear like 2 minute maximum in a video just to see how they say goodbye... Eventough there is the book where you get to hear about them which might be satisfactory enough.

And about Revelations maybe they promissed more and all but maybe they changed tgheir mind understanding that if many questions were answered there would not be susch a mystery that enourages us to keep getting the following games... even tough i thing enough questions were answered for deserving the subtitle "Revelations".... Just my opinion.
