Eteokles' sarcophagus in the tomb

Eteokles was a King of Thebes, the son of Oedipous and brother of Polynikes in Greek mythology.

Biography

He was renowned as the first to revere the Charites, the three graces.[1]

Following a dispute between the brothers over the rule of Thebes, Eteokles exiled Polynikes.[2] Some time later, Polynikes returned with an Argive army, led by seven leaders, to retake Thebes.[3] The resulting battle led to the deaths of both Eteokles and his brother.[2]

Following his death, Eteokles was buried in a Tomb of Eteokles in the Sacred Plains of Demeter in Attika.[4]

Legacy

During the Peloponnesian War, the misthios Kassandra, guided by the Isu Aletheia, visited Eteokles' tomb which contained one of the symbols that served as a key to Great Seal to Atlantis. Aletheia's guidance allowed the Assassin Layla Hassan, who relieved Kassandra's memories, to explore Eteokles' tomb in 2018 to locate the symbol.[5]
