The Teaser 30th April, 2011

On the 30th April 2011, after an initial "slip" about the next Assassin's Creed installment - Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Ubisoft began to tease fans of the series via their official Assassin's Creed facebook page. The post also provided a link to an internal flash page, containing cryptic clues about the next Assassin's Creed game. An interesting loading screen could be seen primarily, then leading on to a blurred image which was interrupted with Arabic text every so often. The text could be deciphered to read: "Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad", the original protagonist of the franchise. The flash image was accompanied by an "activity monitor" which required a 100% fill before a reveal could happen. The activity monitor could (and still can) be filled by "liking" and "sharing" the reveal on facebook, tweeting about it on Twitter (#ACReveal) or e-mailing it.

For those of you who are not on facebook, here is the link to the external flash page! So you can keep an eye on any developments with out having to access facebook! (The Activity monitor will remain frozen, but the image is always current)

Phase one of the reveal was accomplished on 2nd May, 2011. The left portion of the blurring effect was removed to reveal Masyaf castle (as seen in the concept art I have attached) and what looks like Altaïr's arm. Also a Phaistos disc (some have said of Greek origin) flashed on screen every so often. The activity monitor was reset to 0%, giving participants the first indication that it would be a step by step reveal. Each time that 100% was reached, new hints would be released.

Phase 2 - Reveal 3rd May, 2011

Phase two of the reveal was accomplished on 3rd May, 2011. The left portion of the blurring effect was re-applied and the right was removed to reveal Hagia Sophia, the "Church of Holy Wisdom" in Constantinople, (modern day Istanbul) Turkey, hinting at one possible setting for the game. The seal of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, the tenth and longest-reigning Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, from 1520 to his death in 1566, flashed on screen along with the date. The date was 24th June, 1459 - Presumed to be the birth date of Ezio Auditore.

Phase 3 - Reveal 4th May, 2011

Phase three of the reveal was accomplished on 3rd May, 2011. The right portion of the blurring effect was re-applied and the left was once again removed to reveal a figure similar that of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, further fueling speculation of the Syrian assassin's return. A double headed eagle, used by both the Seljuk Turks (c.1058-1246) and The Holy Roman Empire (c.1250-1806) among others, flashed on screen as well as another date - 11th January 1165AD - possibly Altaïr's birth date. The appearance of the "double headed eagle" and the birth dates of both Altaïr and Ezio may be a possible indication that both protagonists make an appearance in the next installment.
