There is an email in AC4, I think it is the one from Olivier’s computer, which talks about researching their own ancestors. I think they noted that Warren Vidic had an ancestor at Joan of Arc’s execution.
I believe that email is where Olivier mentions he is related to a famous historian.
Melanie Lemay mentioned that she had a relative that met President Lincoln.
And they had to have a descendant of Shay Cormac's DNA sample.
They also had Desmond's DNA who was related to Haythem and Maria Thorpe.
An audio file in AC Rouge details Berg's experiance while using an Animus.
Daniel Cross also did research into his ancestors.
