This is my tertiary sandbox. This is, like the primary and secondary ones, used for any projects I decide to take on.
Current project: Blunt weapons

Blunt weapons were weapons used by those who wished to inflict bone-breaking damage against opponents. They were commonly wielded by guards and members of the Assassin Order.
Blunt weapons, much like swords, possessed long reach, great power, and a quick attack rate. As such, they could be seen as some of the most balanced weapons available.
History
Middle Ages
Blunt weapons have been a highly common and frequently used selection of weaponry in the art of warfare, and have seen action in the millennia-long Assassin-Templar War. The earliest known use of blunt weapons by the Assassins was during the early 13th century, by the Levantine Assassins of Masyaf.[1]

When Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad returned to Masyaf in 1228 in order to remove Abbas Sofian from his usurped title of Mentor, his fellow Assassins utilized maces against him when they were ordered to kill him.[1] However, during these times, swords were generally preferred, and were the most common weapon wielded by guards and other factions.[2]
Renaissance
During the Renaissance in Italy, maces and hammers had become far more popular, and were often wielded by guards and Assassins alike. Ezio Auditore da Firenze collected a great number of blunt weapons throughout his travels, often using them against his opponents.[3][4][1]
During his attempts to foil Rodrigo Borgia's schemes of opening the Vatican Vault, Ezio kept a large amount of blunt weapons in the armory of the Villa Auditore where he had taken residence. Blunt weapons could be bought permanently from blacksmiths, but he could also steal them from guards and carry them for a brief amount of time.[3]
While liberating Rome from the influence of the Borgia at the turn of the 16th century, Ezio continued to collect a vast array of weapons, keeping them inside the Tiber Island headquarters, which he used as a place of residence and safe location to communicate, train, and make plans with fellow Assassins. Ezio acquired them in much the same fashion as before, but his effectiveness in combat had increased. As he had become more aggressive in his combat techniques, and learned to perform "execution streaks" to quickly eliminate his enemies, as well as dual-wielding his Hidden Gun with his primary weapon.[4]

Trivia
- In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Ezio could perform pistol executions with blunt weapons, though they used the same animations and sounds as swords did.
- In Assassin's Creed: Revelations, pistol executions could no longer be performed with a blunt weapon.
