Sequence 01 - Prologue
…in which our Hero, the notorious Pirate, Edward Kenway, acquired for himself a Disguise and a Purpose: the Deliverance of a Letter, Maps, and a strange Crystal Cube to the Governor of Havana, in exchange for a perceived Reward;-- here too was a Merchant named Stede Bonnet befriend'd;-- pair'd up, the Two set sail for the Spanish Capital, Havana.
Sequence 02 - The Spanish Main
…in which Edward Kenway dallied for a Time in Havana under the false Name, Duncan Walpole, whereupon he came into Contact with men calling themselves "Templars" named Laureano Torres, Woodes Rogers, and Julien du Casse;– it was from these men that Edward attempted to collect his monetary reward, and here too that he inadvertently joined the Templar Order, attacked and killed a sort called "Assassins", and met a strange man referr'd to as the Sage;– a mysterious Location called The Observatory was talked about with Reverence by all;– shortly thereafter, the Sage escaped the Templars' prison just as Edward's Deceptions were discovered;– he was then imprisoned and set aboard a departing Spanish Treasure Fleet for delivery to British Templars in London;– yet, using his Wits and Cunning, and accepting the Aid of a Trinidadian called Adewale, Edward escaped his bonds, acquired a Spanish Brigantine, and sailed away at the head of a Hurricane to Safety.
Sequence 03 - The Republic Of Pirates
…in which Edward Kenway, newly named Captain aboard his newly christened Jackdaw, set sail for Nassau, Pirate Republic;– whereupon he reunited with old friends, Ed Thatch, Benjamin Hornigold, and James Kidd;– and there under the Tutelage of his Betters, learn'd the proper Methods of Captaining, Seafaring, and Pirating;– and did ultimately cross Paths with the Templar, Julien du Casse, whom he killed out of Caution, wishing not to raise the Templar's Attentions against him, as he continued his own private Search for the mysterious Observatory, and the only man who knew its Location – the Sage.
Sequence 04 - Retribution
…in which we saw the Maxim "As ye reap, so shall ye sow" play out in full;– for it was here that Edward Kenway learn'd the Consequences of his Actions in Havana;– and here he discover'd the Allegiance of his Friend, James Kidd, to the Assassins;– and here he learn'd that the Maps he sold to the Templars in Havana named Assassin Encampments throughout the West Indies;– and here he found the Assassins were none too pleased with this Betrayal;– and in Consequence of these Actions, Edward was compell'd by Kidd's Mentor, Ah Tabai, to explore the Depths of a Mayan Temple, whereupon he spy'd a Statue of the so-called Sage, further deepening the Mystery of this Man;– after which Edward helped the Assassins defend their Camp against a Templar-funded attack perpetrated by the Slaver Laurens Prins;– whereupon the Assassins thank'd Edward, yet barr'd him from their Order.
Sequence 05 - Mistaken Motives
…in which the notorious Pirates Charles Vane and "Calico" Jack Rackham appear'd in Nassau, bringing word of a large Shipment of Gold to a nearby Spanish Fort;-- within which, the Templar Laureano Torres was busy counting and gathering Money to offer as a reward to the Slaver Laurens Prins for his delivery of the Sage to the Templars;-- a scheme our Hero Edward Kenway discovered and adopted as his own;-- thus taking this Templar as a prisoner, Edward set about liberating the Sage for himself, using Torres and his Gold as bait;-- yet complications arose when the Assassin James Kidd arrived to murder both Prins and Torres, confounding Edward's own plans;-- After heated discussion, Edward agreed to help Kidd kill Prins in exchange for finding the Sage, somewhere upon the Slaver's property;-- it was here too that James revealed himself to be a woman, Mary Read;-- and in consequence of their confounded scheme, Laurens Prins was killed, but the Sage escaped yet again, much to Edward's Dismay.
Sequence 06 - Shifting Sands
…in which the Announcement of King George's Pardon to all Pirates touched the Ears of those in the distraught Pirate Republic, causing great Dissention among the Ranks of Rogues and Buccaneers there;-- whereupon our Hero devised the idea to acquire Medicines for the people of Nassau to strengthen their Health and Resolve should the British launch an Assault;-- whereupon Edward Kenway and Ed Thatch -- calling himself Black-Beard -- searched the seas high and low for such Elixirs, bringing them at the last to the shores of Charles-Towne in the Carolinas, whereupon they took Hostages, assaulted the City, and acquired the Medicines they sought;-- yet here it was too that Black-Beard did announce his wish to Retire from a Life of Roguery and Theft;-- thus, leaving Edward in a State of much Glumness.
Sequence 07 - The British Invasion
…in which the Templar and now Governor Woodes Rogers arrived in Nassau with the Commodore Peter Chamberlaine with the aim of scrubbing the city of its piratical Influence;– and in response, it was thence that Benjamin Hornigold did take the Pardon graciously and fell under the sway of the Charismatic Rogers;– and by Contrast, here did Edward Kenway, Charles Vane, and "Calico" Jack Rackham resolve to take Flight, leaving Denizens like the Irish Anne Bonny to live once more under the British Yoke;– and it was here that the Commodore Chamberlaine – no friend of the Templar Rogers – did concoct an order to sink all Pirate Ships in Nassau's Harbour, yet was prevented by our Hero's Blade from issuing such Order;– whereupon the remaining Pirates did ignite a Fireship which, when sent at the British Blockade, exploded with so great a fury as to allow our hero an Escape.
Sequence 08 - No Regrets
…in which Edward Kenway was reproved by Mary Read for remaining ever fix'd to the Piratical way of Life;-- and as such, sailed north to recruit Blackbeard back into his cause;-- and failing such, thereby resolved to drink with him instead, until a sudden attack surprised their Lot, resulting in the untimely death of Ed Thatch;-- whereupon our Hero rejoined with Captain Vane and Mr. Rackham to pursue his original quest for the Observatory;-- yet suffered a setback when a disgruntled Mr. Rackham raised a Mutiny against them both;-- and so set adrift on a damaged ship, our Hero found himself Marooned with Captain Vane, whose Sanity appeared in danger of slipping;-- whereupon Vane attacked Edward Kenway, forcing our Hero to retaliate in Kind, thus subduing his old friend and leaving him for Dead;-- after which time, Edward Kenway located a small fishing Schooner and slipp'd from the Island.
Sequence 09 - Muddied Waters
…in which Mary Read further reproved our Hero for seeking the Observatory for reasons Selfish in Nature;-- whereupon Edward sailed for Kingston in pursuit of a Rumor that the Sage might be docked there;-- and whereupon he discovered that the Templars Torres, Rogers and Hornigold had learned of the Sage's departure from Kingston to the African Island of Principe;-- after which Edward made a hasty departure East -- offending much of his crew, who preferr'd simple piracies to Treasure hunts;-- and arriving thus, landed upon Principe to make the acquaintance of the Sage, a man now turned Pirate and calling himself Captain Bartholomew Roberts;-- whereupon Edward Kenway kill'd two Templars sent to capture the Sage -- the men Burgess and Cockram -- thus earning Robert's full trust.
Sequence 10 - Dead Reckoning
…in which the mysterious Bartholomew Roberts requested of Edward Kenway a favor, in exchange for a glimpse of the Observatory, to which our Hero agreed;– at which time this Pair of Captains did raid and loot a chest of Blood-filled Crystal Vials from a Portuguese Templar's ship, much to Roberts' satisfaction;– whereupon Roberts was pleased and agreed to show our Hero the Prize he had so long sought, yet only after Edward agreed to dispatch the pirate hunter Ben Hornigold, then tailing them;– And past doing the sad deed, Edward did get his Glimpse at the Observatory – a strange Device capable of seeing through another Man's Eyes;– after which, Bartholomew Robert's betrayed and imprisoned Edward Kenway, and threatening to deliver our Hero unto British hands for safe keeping, as Adewale and the rest of the Jackdaw's crew sailed off in Solidarity and Safety.
Sequence 11 - To The Lees
…in which Edward Kenway languished for many Months in a Port Royal Prison, before bearing witness to the Trial of his old Friends, Mary Read and Anne Bonny, who plead their Bellies to stay their executions;-- during which time Edward was visited by Torres and Rogers, who promised safety in exchange for the Observatory's Location, which Edward refused, despite vague threats against his Wife;-- after which Edward languished four months additional in Prison, and in a Gibbet, tortured and deprived, until the Assassin Mentor Ah Tabai came to his aid;-- whereupon they entered the prisons to rescue Anne and Mary, resulting in Anne's escape and Mary's untimely death;-- whereupon Edward departed in solitude to drink away his sadness, and got right pissed;-- after which he was wakened by his former Mate Adewale, who returned his ship, then departed again for the Assassins;-- after which Edward followed, and spoke humble with Ah Tabai, and asked for the opportunity to make aright what he had broken years earlier...
Sequence 12 - The Eagle And The Jackdaw
…in which our Hero took on Anne Bonny as Quartermaster, then began his provisional Training with the Assassins, agreeing to eliminate the three targets presenting the most immediate threat to the safety of the World -- Woodes Rogers, Laureano Torres, and Bartholomew Roberts;-- whereupon Edward first sought Rogers in Kingston and struck, wounding but likely not killing the man;-- whereupon he then sailed to Africa in pursuit of Bart Roberts, and thus finding him, delivered the killing blow and recovered from him a crucial piece of the Observatory;-- and from thence, he sailed to Havana in pursuit of Torres, using the Observatory Skull to locate him, yet finding only El Tiburón, the Templar's bodyguard;-- and so killing him, Edward sailed further to the Observatory, and there finding a disappointed Torres, killed him, replaced the Observatory's device, and vowed never to use it for ill;-- whereupon he received an old letter from Bristol bearing unsettling news.
Sequence 13 - Epilogue
…in which Edward Kenway donated his Cove to the Assassins and drew up plans for the future;-- whereupon a passenger ship entered the harbor, causing in Edward a great fit of anxiety;-- whereupon he greeted the ship and passengers, among them a young girl of seven or eight called Jennifer Kenway, Edward and Caroline's daughter;-- and from whom Edward learned of his dear Caroline's passing years earlier, and of his daughter's impressive resilience, intelligence and great humor;-- after which Edward returned to England to live life as a man of means and Quality... and as an Assassin, good and true.
