Æthelstan (894 – 939) was the son of Edward the Elder and later ruled as King of the Anglo-Saxons from 924 until 927, then as King of the English from 927 until his death.[1]
Biography
Life as ætheling
Æthelstan followed his father Edward in continuing his grandfather Alfred the Great's legacy of uniting all England by driving out the Vikings. Together, they would go on to defeat the Danish princes of East Anglia, the five boroughs, and Jorvík.[2]
Legacy
Generation's after his reign and death, his eventual successor King Edgar would undo all Edward's and Æthelstan's hard work trying to purge their lands of Danes due to his overly-peaceful reign allowing the Vikings to regroup.[2]
