Wittenberg, officially Lutherstadt Wittenberg, is a city in Germany.
History[edit | edit source]
During the Renaissance, Elector Friedrich der Weise decided to start a university in the city. This school would question the activities of the House of Borgia and its leading member, Pope Alexander VI. The Borgia arranged for a large bribe to be given in exchange for the cancellation of der Weise's plans.[1][2]
The Italian Assassins learned of the bribe, and Ezio Auditore da Firenze sent his apprentices to intercept the guards delivering the money. After obtaining the money, the Assassins anonymously donated it to the school and made sure the Borgia believed it had been stolen by bandits.[1][2]
