The Winter Palace is a palace that served as the home for the Romanovs and their predecesors in Saint Petersburg, Russia. However, during the Russian Revolution, Tsar Nicholas II of Russia had to abdicate his throne and he and his family fled the palace in fear for their safety.[1]
