| A person who committs assassination, the targeted murder of a public figure. Within the "Assassins Creed" world the assassin was the one to apply the strike of major-public-figures throughout the Holy Land. Careful investigation and planning lead to to the knowledge of where and when the target would most likely be vulnerable to an efficient public strike. The assassin was widely known in terms of fear and respect. Fear, for their well-established ability to fatally strike from any direction hidden amongst the crowd. This method of daytime killing was a certain and swift method for spreading the reputation and devotion of the assassin to his cause, and within the political arena firmly carved the message, that those that walk the path of corruption in public, shall meet their end in public, never knowing who in the crowd could be waiting to kill them. The corrupt out of certain fear of walking in the light usually strayed from their current path to ensure that they be able to walk without being stalked by a "blade in the crowd". Through success the assassin, but mainly his deed helped greatly shape the course of the Holy Lands future. Somewhat making this scholar like public striker a politician. What can also be said is once marked for assassination the target is their center of life. Stalking the streets in search of useful information that could reveal an opening for a potential strike is what made the assassin so efficient. Knowing the targets daily routines and knowing his weaknesses presented the oppurtune moment to strike. The assassin possessed extensive knowledge on both sides of the Third Crusade, mainly the religous complexities strongly tied into the politics on both sides (Saracen & Crusaders) causing the war. Also they thouroughly knew the Quran and its teachings. They in a large way were scholars, because they alway strived for higher knowledge and spiritualism in themselves but also the world, seeing how they fight for "peace in all things". Because of this, knowing and understanding their enemies taught and revealed other perspectives and philosophies of the world that aided them in self-understanding, and growth.
