Veteran Breastplate

The Veteran Breastplate was the breastplate of an old Pephkan man, who'd come to Messara to gather his deceased wife some flowers.

Understanding himself to be too weak to make the journey to the top of Mount Ida where the red flowers grew, he asked the passing Spartan misthios Kassandra to fetch them instead. Alas, before Kassandra made it back with the flowers, the old man died. His daughter was there, however, and at Kassandra's demand, gave her father's old breastplate to the misthios.[1]
