The exterior of a trip wire bomb.

Trip Wire Bombs were an archetype of bombs that exploded when a guard or civilian got close enough to trigger them. They took 3 seconds to arm and were best used to eliminate roving patrols or as a trap for pursuers.

It could be used in conjunction with any gunpowder or effect type in bomb crafting.

Trivia

  • Ezio and his allies are the only characters who don't trigger an explosion when passing over a Trip wire bomb.
    • Due to this, civilians can set off a Trip wire bomb, which can disrupt a player's plans. This should be taken into consideration when placing one.
  • Trip wire bombs also feature in the multiplayer as an ability, though they are limited to simply dazing those caught in its effect.
