The Tomb of the Epigones was a tomb-shrine within the Sacred Plains of Demeter in Attika, Greece, near the Tomb of Eteokles.
The tomb-shrine was where the King Adrastos of Argos and Sikyon buried the remains of the Seven Against Thebes slain during the expedition to take the city of Thebes in Boeotia for Polynikes.[1]
During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra visited the site.[2]
Trivia
- Historically, the Epigoni were the sons of the Seven Against Thebes, not the seven leaders themselves.
