Juno's appearance from inside the Grey

The Grey is a worldwide digital network maintained and inhabited by the artificial intelligence construct of Juno, a member of the First Civilization.[1] It was created after Juno was released from her confines within the Grand Temple by Desmond Miles on 21 December 2012 during his attempt to save the world from a solar flare.[2] Using the Grey, Juno is capable of entering other forms of digital technology, and has launched various attacks on Abstergo Industries and Helix servers.[3]

After her attempt to enter the body of an Abstergo Entertainment research analyst with the help of the Sage John Standish failed,[1] Juno instead intended for humanity to enter the Grey by uploading people's consciousness into the network through the Animus and live under her leadership. During some form of digital correspondence between Juno and her husband Aita decoded by Abstergo employees, Juno revealed that Clay Kaczmarek and Desmond Miles were among those who "will [not] leave" and "live in bliss".[3]
