Thaletas' Helmet was the family heirloom helmet of Thaletas, a Spartan polemarch who had sailed to defend the Silver Islands against Athenian forces in 5th century BCE.

Originally belonging to Thaletas' grandfather, the helmet was taken from his corpse by his son, Thaletas' father, after the Battle of Thermopylae. In time, the helmet was passed on to Thaletas, whose life it often saved. It served also as a memento of his father, whose face he forgot over time.

When Thaletas was on his way to answer the summons for help sent by Kyra, a Mykonian rebel, his fleet was attacked and largely destroyed by Athenian forces. Though Thaletas managed to swim ashore with some of his men, the helmet sank with their ship. Lacking time to look for the helmet himself, Thaletas asked the misthios Kassandra, a fellow Spartan, to look for the helmet, hoping to retrieve the last remaining memento of his father.

Trivia

• One safe way to acquire the wearable version (instead of just the quest item) of this helmet is to find it during The Thaletas Way quest, and then lie to Thaletas about finding it

  Another possible way is to loot Shipwreck of Ajax easiest to reach chest, after completing The Thaletas Way quest, possibly as a random drop
