The Temple of Zeus was a temple dedicated to Zeus located in the city of Olympia in Elis, Greece. It was known for containing the renowned Statue of Zeus, built by Phidias, that was considered one of the .
The temple was also where victorious athletes were crowned at the end of the Olympic Games.
History
During the Peloponnesian War, the temple was visited by the Spartan misthios, Kassandra.[1]
