The Temple of Aphrodite was a temple located on the Akrokorinth in Korinthia, Greece. It was dedicated to the Greek goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite.

History

During his lifetime, the Athenian general Themistokles visited the temple and documented his thoughts on a papyrus sheet, which he hid on the roof of the temple.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War, the hetaerae of Korinth fled to the temple in fear of The Monger, a brute who wanted to control them. Around the same time, the Spartan misthios Kassandra also visited the temple, looking for the hetaerae in order to seek out information concerning her mother, Myrrine.[2]

Around the same time, Alkibiades also visited the temple, and met Kassandra there, asking her to deliver a package to a man named Bardas at the nearby fort.[3]
