They call me many things: Murderer. Cutthroat. Thief. But you may call me Subject 1.

This article is about a subject that lacks an official name and is known only by its nickname, title, or alias.

Subject 1 (died January 1981) was the first participant of Abstergo Industries' experimental phase of the Animus Project.

Biography

In 1980, he was made to view the genetic memories of his ancestor, Aveline de Grandpré, while they were recorded by Abstergo.[1]

In an interview between the Subject and Warren Vidic, head of the Animus Project, conducted between sessions in the Animus, Vidic questioned the Subject on his experiences in the Animus and expressed that Gérald Blanc may have been the Subject's missing ancestor, but the recording abruptly ended shortly after.[1]

In January 1981, Subject 1 died of a seizure whilst in the Animus, due to the undiscovered dangers of overexposure to the device.[2] Like many others who followed him in the program, his body was disposed of in a nearby river. [citation needed]

Legacy

Eventually, in 2012, Subject 1's genetic memories were used as the basis for the Abstergo Entertainment video game, Liberation. [citation needed]

In 2013, a research analyst working for Abstergo Entertainment accessed the audio recording of the interview between Subject 1 and Warren Vidic.[1]
