Stigr, also known as Stigr the Amorous, was a Norse flyter who lived in Hemthorpe in Snotinghamscire during the 9th century.
In the 870s, Stigr encountered the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir during her time in the village. Stigr challenged Eivor to a variation of flyting in which they exchanged amorous phrases, one which Eivor ultimately won.[1]
