Splinter bombs were an explosive weapon that killed or injured nearby people by dispersing deadly shrapnel. They could be crafted using any shell or gunpowder type combined with the shrapnel effect, or obtained by looting Janissary corpses.
They were highly effective in direct confrontations, as the detonation of even one such bomb could kill anyone within its radius, including the heavily armored Almogavars and Janissaries. However, due to its indiscriminate nature, civilian casualties were a very real possibility when they were present. Despite this, splinter bombs were one of only two types of bombs that could open up sealed wells, the other being thunder bombs.
