The Siege of Boston (19 April 1775 – 17 March 1776) was a battle of the American Revolutionary War, beginning after the Battles of Lexington and Concord.
History
When the siege began in 1775, Governor Thomas Gage ordered that the fortifications on the Boston Neck be expanded and strengthened, earning them the nickname of "Gage's Lines".[1] The Colonial Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton later sent his recruits to help General Henry Knox transport cannons from Fort Ticonderoga, in New York,[2] to Dorchester Heights, ending the Siege of Boston.[3]
