Shōkoku-ji

Shōkoku-ji (相国寺) is a Buddhist temple in northern Kyoto, founded by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in 1382.[1]

History

A great patron of the arts, Yoshimitsu established Shōkoku-ji to serve as a school for painting, and the temple produced many great artists, including Sesshū Tōyō, who is considered the greatest ink painting artist of Japan.[2]

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke recovered three pages scattered across its temple grounds. The pair later climbed one of its destroyed pagodas and surveyed the grounds.[3]

Behind the scenes

In the memory "The Twisted Tree," the player is given a choice on the fate of Takahashi Goro, either to confront and decide his fate at the temple or he can flee from his family if his father Takahashi Inoshichi was killed first.[4].
