Description
High above the chaos of a battle between Roman and Carthaginian soldiers, stand a youxia from China named Wei Yu and the legendary misthios Kassandra. Kassandra restates their goal — to retrieve a powerful artifact from a Roman general — just before she leaps into the fray.
Dialogue
Wei Yu performed a Leap of Faith to the docks below.
- Kassandra: Not bad. You're a natural at this.
She air assassinated a Roman guard.
- Wei Yu: I could have handled myself.
- Kassandra: Force of habit. Come on, this way.
They moved towards the battle.
- Kassandra: This way. I suspect the stone will be in the midst of the fighting.
She spotted some guards in their way.
- Kassandra: Look alive, there are guards ahead. I'll the the one up top.
Wei Yu slew three guards who came at him.
- Kassandra: Up here!
Wei Yu climbed a ladder to reach her.
- Kassandra: Look over there.
From their highpoint, Kassandra pointed out a soldier immediately below.
- Wei Yu: Did you save him for me?
- Kassandra: Don't flatter yourself. He might have a clue on him about the whereabouts of the stone.
Wei Yu assassinated the man.
- Kassandra: You must teach me your techniques from beyond the sea one day. They are intriguing.
- Wei Yu: We should see what that's about.
They joined the battle.
- Kassandra: Some of these men can still fight. You go on ahead. I'll catch up.
Wei Yu killed many Roman soldiers, then spotted Carthaginian forces losing skirmishes across the beachhead.
- Wei Yu: It looks like they're in trouble.
Wei Yu ran in and killed more Roman soldiers, saving the Carthaginians who then aided his efforts rescuing their kinsmen.
- Carthaginian soldier: Thank you, sir! The general ordered us to secure this outpost, but we're outnumbered!
- Wei Yu: We're almost there. Keep going!
- Narrator: Having defeated a number of Roman soldiers, Wei Yu is met by the grateful Carthaginian leader, Hannibal, who sees that their objectives align—Hannibal wants the Roman general dead, and Wei Yu wants the stone he carries.
- Wei Yu: The stone he had in his hand... That's what we're after.
[Wei Yu climbs a bunch of stairs to a temple]
- Roman General: Is that all you have? This is the supposed might of Carthage? Pathetic!
- Narrator: Wei Yu arrives before the Roman commander and issues a challenge, only to be mocked by his enemy as an insignificant foreign warrior. But the commander's arrogance would soon be tempered by the grace of an eastern spearmaster.
- Roman General: Pathetic! You call that strength?
You're a waste of my breath!
Hah! You call this a fight?
So you're stronger than you look...
After a lengthy fight, Wei Yu proved victorious.
- Wei Yu: Finally. Now, to get that stone.
Having looted the stone from the commander's body, Wei Yu immediately returned to his tent.
- Wei Yu: The stone has been retrieved, and my end of the bargain fulfilled.
- Kassandra: That it has. And now for me to fulfill mine. Here.
She held out a necklace with a black triangle. The two looked at an unrolled map of Eurasia and Africa held on the table by a kopis.
- Kassandra: In these scrolls is everything you need to know about your disciple's... circumstances. I trust you will find them most illuminating.
- Wei Yu: There's a blade rolled up here as well.
- Kassandra: Another gift for your disciple. Consider it a token for your help.
She withdrew
- Wei Yu: I promise you they will put this to good use.
- Wei Yu: Thank you, misthios, truly. For everything.
Outcome
Wei Yu and Kassandra assisted Hannibal's forces in capturing the beachhead from the Roman defenders. Wei Yu then slew the commander and retrieved a precious stone. As thanks for his help, Kassandra gave him scrolls she had acquired regarding his student's unusual condition and a weapon for the pupil.
