The Scorched Tree was a dead tree within the Golden Fields of Arkadia, Greece. During the Peloponnesian War soldiers of the Cult of Kosmos made their camp around the tree.
Around 428 BCE the Spartan misthios Kassandra overheard a meeting between a messenger of the leader of Arkadia, Lagos, and a Cultist guard. They were supposed to take a message from Lagos to the Scorched Tree, whence someone else would take it to their underground hideout. Following them, Kassandra found Lagos' servant tied up at the Scorched Tree. After releasing her, Kassandra learned that Lagos' family, his wife Philonoe and son Niloxenos were held within the cave under heavy guard.[1]
Kassandra also slew the Cultist guards in the area.[2]
